Bolts P.C.D - Pitch Circle Diameter
Today’s blog the topic of discussion is about the P.C.D of the bolts in the application having a number of bolts and its effect on using torque tools in applications having multi spindles.
In this era of industries 4.0, various
advancements are made to improve production and manufacturing
efficiency. Quality is one of the most important factors while
assembling or manufacturing a product because the better the quality of the product will be the more the demand for the product will increase.
Many of the
application has various bolts that require tightening simultaneously together
to ensure proper tightening. These applications are critical and if the bolts
are tightened independently then enough clamp load will not be generated
and poor efficiency will have resulted.
When the one side bolt
is tightened then the other side of the application will be lifted and then
that side bolt has tightened this side of the application gets lifted which also
affects the quality of the product.
Multi-spindles
tools are used in this type of application. In multi-spindles, the various
number of tools are used together interlinked to each other for tightening
the bolt simultaneously together.
P.C.D is the main concern for using the multi-spindle application. It is important to know the application bolts P.C.D so that the tools can be used together for the multi spindles. If the P.C.D of the bolt is too smaller than the tools cannot be used for the multi-spindle.
P.C.D stands
for pitch circle diameter which can be defined as the diameter of the circle
passing through the center of the various bolts. It can be calculated easily by
measuring the distance from the center of two adjacent bolts.
